1. Before You Buy – Try High Heels On In The Afternoon/Evening
To hack before you even buy, you should ensure to try on shoes in the afternoon or evening. Your foot expands slightly throughout the day, especially in the summer, so it is at its biggest at this time. If you buy shoes in the morning when your foot is at its slimmest, you run the risk of them being too tight by the end of the day.
2. Tape Your Toes Together To Ease Foot Pain
To ease high heel pain, use self-sticking bandage to tape together the third and fourth toes of each foot. This will help to alter the balance of your foot and to keep foot muscles aligned.
3. Use Talcum Powder For Squeaky Shoes
Talcum powder or baby powder can be a great hack for squeaky shoes. First, locate where the squeak is coming from by walking around in your shoes in a quiet area. If the noise is coming from the inside of your shoe, sprinkle some talcum powder underneath the insoles. If it sounds like the squeak is in the base of your shoe, then massage the talcum powder into the outside seams.
4. Shorten Your Heels
With certain shoes, it is possible to take up to an inch off the heel without damaging the shoe structure. Obviously, you will need the help of a professional for this task. (If it is the case that the heel in your shoe is hollow, then you won’t be able to shorten it as this can effect the strength of the shoe.)
5. Get Rid Of Odors With Teabags
To remove odours from your shoes, place a couple of teabags inside your shoes overnight. These will help to absorb the smell. Repeat over the course of two to three nights if required.
6. Make Old Shoes Look New With Glitter
The heels of leather, suede or fabric shoes can be susceptible to nicks and scratches. To give them a new lease of life, cover the heels with glitter. Watch some of the many great tutorial videos on YouTube to get an idea on how to do this right.
7. Prevent Blisters with Deodorant
Before stepping out in a new pair of high heels, rub clear-gel deodorant on the spots prone to blistering. It will help to ease the friction between your feet and the shoes and prevent blisters from appearing.
8. If Preventative Measures Are Too late, Soak Blistered Feet In Epsom Salt
Soaking feet in warm water and Epsom salt will toughen up the skin. It also acts as an antiseptic, killing bacteria and reducing your chances of developing an infection.
